To Move is To Feel

A deep exhale.

A stretch of the leg.

A brace of the arms.

Dance/Movement Therapy lives here, in the body, in motion.

It’s a way of working with the body to explore, express, and connect.

Does one have to know how to dance?

No, not at all.

The name often creates a misnomer that you need dance experience.

But really, DMT invites an individual to connect with their body at any point along the spectrum, from stillness to movement.

A shift.

A pose.

A turn.

Even a breath is more than enough.

In my work, I guide others into movement and into connection with what that movement means.

Sometimes, it isn’t even about meaning yet.

It’s about physically feeling…

the movement, or the stillness.

This is where the mind and body begin to dance.

It might begin with something simple, a shape, a gesture

You create a shape with your body… and simply notice it.

And at another moment, the invitation shifts.

How does that feeling take shape in your body?

There can be a kind of freedom in movement.

And sometimes, being given that much latitude of expression can feel unfamiliar…

even unsettling.

At times, what meets you there…

is something quietly waiting to be felt.

So I’ll ask you

Is this for you?

Or is there something in you that’s curious enough to find out?
