The Resistant Body

Growth rarely begins with confidence.
More often, it begins with uncertainty.
It begins the moment we try something unfamiliar and hear the quiet voice that says, "What if I look silly?" or "What if I'm doing it wrong?"
The body often hesitates before it moves.
The first invitation to move can feel surprisingly vulnerable. Even people who are comfortable talking about their thoughts may hesitate when invited to express themselves through movement.
Why?
Because movement has a way of making us visible.
The resistant body protects what is familiar. It returns to the movements, patterns, and ways of being it already knows. Yet when we gently explore something new, we also begin to discover new thoughts, emotions, and possibilities.
Discomfort is not something to eliminate. It is often an invitation to become curious.
Notice resistance with compassion and allow yourself to explore the unfamiliar at your own pace.
The first step may feel awkward.
The second may feel a little easier.
And somewhere along the way, what once felt unfamiliar becomes a place of discovery.
Sometimes growth begins with nothing more than the willingness to take one unfamiliar step.
