Boredom-inspired

I wonder if we've become so uncomfortable with boredom that we never give it the chance to do its work.

The moment there's a pause, we reach for something: a screen, a notification, another task.

We fill every quiet moment, forgetting that boredom isn't emptiness. It's a blank canvas, quietly waiting for our minds to begin creating.

Today I found myself mentally tired, so instead of searching harder for an idea, I went for a simple walk.

No agenda. No podcast. No music. Just a chance to step away from the noise.

It's interesting what begins to happen when the mind isn't constantly occupied. At first, it searches for something to fill the space. But if we allow the silence to linger, inspiration has a chance to find us.

Perhaps boredom isn't something to avoid.

Perhaps we avoid silence because it asks us to wander into the unknown.

Perhaps it's the doorway to creativity.

The next time you find yourself in deep contemplation, invite the silence. As our bodies require moments of respite, so too do our minds. It is often in that quiet that we rediscover what has been waiting to be heard.

Take a walk.

Who knows what may emerge.
